THE ADOPTION PROCESS
All of our rescue dogs are assessed by foster carers in their homes. This process provides us insight into the dogs personality, strengths and challenges.
How the process works:
- Prior to adoption, home visits are conducted to ensure a safe environment, to meet family members and other animals in the home.
- Once the home check is complete you are welcome to visit the dog in his foster home.
- The dog will go on a two week trial with your family. We are always happy to extend the trial period if necessary.
- If for any reason at any time the adoption fails please contact us immediately, we will always take our dogs back into care.

Elijah’s foster carer has this to say about him.
“Elijah loves to be outside and can most often be found sunning himself in the garden. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home, a collection of small golden oldies. On leash Elijah or Eli as he’s affectionately known can be a bit reactive to new dogs but is progressing well with his training.
Being 10 years old, Eli is a bit set in his ways, he knows what he likes and what he doesn’t, he is learning through gentle leadership how to be a well behaved gentleman but he can sometimes be a little bit of a grump so is best in an adult only home.”
Elijah does have some arthritis but after a course of anti-inflammatory injections is feeling much better, his new family would need to be aware of when he might be feeling a little sore and get him a vet check-up. He might benefit from some daily help with something like Rosehip Vital.
Elijah needs access inside when his family are home and has a long coat that requires regular brushing to avoid matting. We know that the perfect retirement home is out there for Eli.

Nikita is an 11 year old Pom Mix - gorgeously sassy and quite the personality when you get to know her!
She loves hanging out with you on the couch and having belly rubs but also likes to chase a ball and play with her squeaky toys- the goal being to remove the squeak!!She loves running on the sand and chasing seagulls too.
She is very loving and protective and likes to bark at the neighbourhood dogs barking as if to say “I’m Queen of this Hood”- from the safety of the balcony of course! She likes short walks too -, especially in the sun.
Adoption Criteria:
-Nikita is best suited as the only dog in the home, she likes humans all to herself!
-A family home more often than not, we know currently everyone is spending more time at home but we’d like to find Nikita a fam that is around a lot when the world gets back to normal.
-Despite being a mature lady, Nikita still enjoys a daily stroll.
-A family committed to the veterinary requirements of a senior pet. Despite being in pretty good shape, Nikita will most likely need yearly dental, etc.
-No small children, a mature home is best for this mature lady.
-Location: Nikita is being fostered in Sydney, ideally she will find a family in Sydney but the ACT will also be considered.

Buddy and Loki are two lovable Beagle mix brothers from different crossbreed litters, they are sweet as sugar and too cute to boot.
Now fully grown (both over 25kgs) they are well past the naughty stage and love to lounge around the house together, playing, having a wrestle, and keeping each other company. Both boys are toilet trained, use a doggy door, and are home during the day alone a few days a week.
Access inside as they please, this is what the boys are accustom to and like this arrangement. Ideally, their new fam will have a decent sized yard for them to also explore. Daily walks and exercise are an absolute must, they enjoy walks and going to the dog park, have loads of energy to burn but are happy to just chill for the remainder of the day.
They have toddlers in the home that they tolerate well, but being hounds, their noses rule their lives and are always looking out for a dropped "snack" or to "share" their food. Older children or teenagers would be more suitable.
These boys are delightfully sweet but are larger dogs (between 25-33kgs) and will require a family that can handle their size, experience with larger dogs is preferred but not essential.

Scamp and Tinker came into our care after their beloved dad passed away, they have only known love and you can tell because these two have such sweet, kind natures and the sheer site of their low riding bodies makes you melt.
What type of home are these ladies looking for, keep reading :
Scamp and Tinker are after a retirement home, somewhere they can potter around and be doted upon.
Short strolls and a good diet are needed to get rid of some of those extra kilos... currently Scamp (black and tan) is the heavier of the two and requires some extra motivation to get that body moving.
These girls get along with other animals but are probably best suited to being the only dogs in the home as they sure do like to soak up all the love.
A family committed to their ongoing health, Tinker has arthritis in her hip and requires pain management, ie anti-inflammatory injections.
Access inside, this is what the girls are used to and enjoy. They are housetrained and just want to chill by the couch. A bucketload of pats and butt scratches because... of course!

Winston, a one-year-old miniature Dachshund who is ready for a fresh start and a family of his own. He is a sweet, affectionate little dog who is happiest when he is close to his people.
Winston came from a farm near Singleton where he lived outdoors with two other dogs. He was not getting the attention or companionship he needed and would often dig under the fence and wander, with neighbours regularly bringing him home. Since coming into care and living inside with his carers, he has completely settled. With love, routine, and a bit of guidance, he has shown what a wonderful little dog he truly is.
He is playful, social, and very trainable. He loves belly rubs, curling up beside you on the lounge, sleeping close at night, going for walks, visiting the dog park, travelling in the car and playing with his toys. Mostly, he loves being wherever his people are.
Winston is crate trained and sleeps happily in his crate at night. His house training is coming along very well, and he is now only having the occasional accident as he continues to learn. He is dog social and would enjoy having another friendly dog for company, although the right individual home is the most important thing.
The home Winston is looking for is one with a secure yard, someone who is home more often than not, and plenty of love and companionship. Another friendly dog would be a bonus.

Wally is a blind, but that is not a hindarance for him. He has never known any different so don't feel sorry for him, he doesn’t care. He's like a normal dog but better. He is a very confidence boy despite his lack of eyes and learns the lay of the house and using the doggie door in a flash.
Wally is a cracker of a dog, outgoing and friendly, perfectly healthy. He ADORES walks and sitting in the sun in the backyard. His previous life didn't include toys, so give him a toy and watch him go.
He's full of beans and ready to party. He's only 4.5kg but brings Big Dog Energy. He can go with another young, playful dog if that dog is 100% non reactive and bigger than him, or as a solo if you are home more than not. NO CATS!

Hester is the loveliest little Pug on the planet, a happy, friendly, social butterfly who moves through the world as though everyone is already his friend. While in care with his foster family he has lived a full and joyful life, he has been to the office where he was an instant hit, he has trotted along to netball training and then proudly attended the Saturday games, and he has become a café‑social regular who loves nothing more than being right there in the middle of the action.
He adores other dogs, especially Pugs, and has formed a beautiful bond with his foster Puggies, Elvis and Frank. His foster home has given him a wonderful time, and he has soaked up every moment, even sleeping on his foster sister’s bed at night, curled up against her as though he has always belonged.
Hester loves going out for walks, loves meeting people, loves being included, and truly enjoys life to the maximum. Paulie is a ten‑month‑old French Bulldog x Pug, he has a very soft nature and a steady, easy way about him. He came into care with his mum, dad and brother after being left in a house by an owner who had fallen on very hard times and simply had nowhere to go. They were a little family who needed help, and Paulie has spent the past few months learning what normal life feels like in foster care.
He lives with his foster mum Robyn and is a regular at the local dog park, trotting around calmly, greeting the other dogs and enjoying the affection from the locals who all know him. He is not a busy or frantic dog; he is quite a settled little boy who enjoys company and attention from his humans.
Paulie has had all of his vet work completed, including dental surgery by a specialist who removed a couple of overcrowded teeth. He is now comfortable, healthy and ready for his new home. He is a house dog who is fully housetrained and must always have indoor access via a doggie door or similar. His coat is wonderfully low maintenance, just a bath and a groom keep him looking lovely.
We would love Paulie to join a home with another friendly dog who will be a companion for him, though he can also go as an only dog provided his person is committed to daily walks and regular social time with other dogs. He would suit children eight and up and a family who are not going to leave him alone for long stretches, as he is used to company and thrives with it.
Paulie is a sweet, gentle young dog who has had a disrupted start but has blossomed beautifully in care.

“As you can see from my profile picture, I am a very good-looking boy, I’m just a baby at 14 months old so am still learning things, but my foster Mum says I am smart and catch on quickly.

FOSTER OR FOSTER‑TO‑ADOPT HOME NEEDED FOR BILLY IN SYDNEY TO CANBERRA TO NEWCASTLE.
BILLY is looking for a peaceful, one‑on‑one home where he can feel safe and settled. He must be the only dog in the household, so if you have other dogs, this won’t be the right match for him. Billy would also prefer a quieter home with just one other person to share his days with, as that is where he feels most secure.
He does best in a calm home with one person, ideally a woman who enjoys the company of a small dog who likes to be close. Billy follows you around with his ball, waits for playtime, curls beside you on the couch, and sleeps in his own bed through the night. He is housetrained, used to a dog door, travels well in the car, sits on command, enjoys his toys and is easy to brush, his coat will look best if you brush him often.
Billy walks nicely on lead and is friendly when he sees small dogs at a distance. He is frightened of bigger dogs and does not cope with busy places, dog parks or crowded cafés. He is best as the only dog in the home so he can relax and feel safe. He is a loyal little dog who wants a peaceful life with someone who understands him.

Celine was rescued from Campbeltown Pound in Sydney some time ago. She came into the pound with her daughter Gracie – both dogs were in horrific condition, and it was obvious to anyone that they had been used for breeding and looked to have had many, many litters! Both Gracie and Celine have required various surgeries and medication to bring them back to good health and are now enjoying a good life with their foster carers.
Celine is a very sweet dog, she has a beautiful personality with her humans, is very obedient and loves the dog she is living with. She goes out on walks around the neighbourhood and has been to the beach a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We believe that the best home for Celine will be as an only dog, she is a bit of a couch potato these days and does enjoy laying in her bed in the company of her human or toddling around the garden enjoying the cool breeze blowing in her face.
Celine is very much a house dog and must always have access inside, she does love children so a home with kids would also be nice for her. She is on the quieter side so a home with a retired couple would also be a nice option for her.

Bean must live as a house dog with easy access to the garden through a doggie door or something similar. Older, gentle children will be fine for her, and if she is to be an only dog she needs a family who are not out for long stretches of the day, as she will not enjoy being left alone for hours. Bean is aged between one and two years and is really still just a baby herself, she is a loveable little dog who will thrive in a home where there is lots of love. I don’t remember much about my life before I came to live with my foster mum and dad. I think it was a pretty traumatic time, so perhaps my brain decided it was best to forget it! What I can tell you is all about the Bean I am today.
Apparently, I’m the cutest and most beautiful Bean ever… although I should mention that’s according to my Foster Mum!
I absolutely LOVE zoomies, balls, toys and, most importantly, cuddles. I also love, love, LOVE tissues and pee pads because they’re so much fun to tear up!
I recently became a mum myself and have been busy raising my two crazy little Beans, Pea and Pixie. Wow… what an eye-opener that was! Being a mum is hard work, so I think I’ve definitely earned some extra cuddles after that experience.
My foster mum and dad would love nothing more than to adopt me themselves, but they already have Braxie (AKA Grumpy Grandpa). They’re also about to start travelling around Australia in their caravan and heading overseas, so unfortunately, their paws are tied. As much as they would love to keep me, they know I need to find my own forever family.
I do have some things from my past that still make me nervous. I’m scared of quite a few things, including those black, noisy flying things with enormous teeth. Mum says they’re called “just flies”, but I’m not convinced!
When I see one, I can become so frightened that I run and hide under the bed or burrow beneath a blanket where I can’t see it. Mum takes care of the scary thing, and once she tells me it’s safe, I know it’s okay to come back out.
The big outside world can also be a little scary for me, but I’m learning! The other day, Mum and Dad took me for a walk by the ocean. It was exciting… and a little bit terrifying! Mum kept telling me “good girl, good girl” over and over, and that helped me keep going and be brave.
I’m looking for someone who understands that I may need a little time, patience and reassurance while I learn that the world isn’t such a scary place.
In return, I promise to give you all the love, cuddles and kisses my little Bean heart can hold.

They are the sweetest little girls who have had an exceptional start to life, growing up with their mum Bean and their foster carers. Everything has been done correctly to ensure they have been well fed, well-loved and beautifully socialised with humans and the resident dog.
We are looking for homes where each puppy will have another dog for company, a small younger dog under five years of age. We will not rehome them together or with their mother, and we will not rehome them as only dogs. Each puppy needs her own family so that the risk of sibling syndrome is not possible.

Chuckles is a dear little soul, fully housetrained, happily using either a dog door or an open door to go inside and out to toilet. At night when the doggie door is locked shut, he goes straight off to bed and sleeps right through the night. He is a sturdy fellow of around ten kilos, a calm and steady dog who has lived comfortably with two much younger, bouncy dogs and took all of their energy in his stride. Although he walks well on lead, he has not been out for some time, so shorter walks at first will help rebuild his muscle strength and ease him back into a routine.
He has been in foster care with Leanne and family while having his vet work done, his teeth, were dreadful but they have now been sorted with extractions and a full scale and polish at Beverly Hills Animal Hospital It was a big job, but Chuckles has recovered beautifully and is ready for his new home now.
Chuckles foster carer and her family have fallen completely in love with him and speak so warmly of his gentle nature. He is not bothered by little people, noise, other dogs or cats, and he adores cuddles. He is still very happy to walk a couple of kilometers without any trouble and enjoys being part of whatever is happening around him

Winston came from a farm near Singleton where he lived outdoors with two other dogs. He was not getting the attention or companionship he needed and would often dig under the fence and wander, with neighbours regularly bringing him home. Since coming into care and living inside with his carers, he has completely settled. With love, routine, and a bit of guidance, he has shown what a wonderful little dog he truly is.
He is playful, social, and very trainable. He loves belly rubs, curling up beside you on the lounge, sleeping close at night, going for walks, visiting the dog park, travelling in the car and playing with his toys. Mostly, he loves being wherever his people are.
Winston is crate trained and sleeps happily in his crate at night. His house training is coming along very well, and he is now only having the occasional accident as he continues to learn. He is dog social and would enjoy having another friendly dog for company, although the right individual home is the most important thing.

BILLY is looking for a peaceful, one‑on‑one home where he can feel safe and settled. He must be the only dog in the household, so if you have other dogs, this won’t be the right match for him. Celine was rescued from Campbeltown Pound in Sydney some time ago. She came into the pound with her daughter Gracie – both dogs were in horrific condition, and it was obvious to anyone that they had been used for breeding and looked to have had many, many litters! Both Gracie and Celine have required various surgeries and medication to bring them back to good health and are now enjoying a good life with their foster carers.
Celine is a very sweet dog, she has a beautiful personality with her humans, is very obedient and loves the dog she is living with. She goes out on walks around the neighbourhood and has been to the beach a few times and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We believe that the best home for Celine will be as an only dog, she is a bit of a couch potato these days and does enjoy laying in her bed in the company of her human or toddling around the garden enjoying the cool breeze blowing in her face.
Celine is very much a house dog and must always have access inside, she does love children so a home with kids would also be nice for her. She is on the quieter side so a home with a retired couple would also be a nice option for her.

Although he walks well on lead, he has not been out for some time, so shorter walks at first will help rebuild his muscle strength and ease him back into a routine.
He has been in foster care with Leanne and family while having his vet work done, his teeth, were dreadful but they have now been sorted with extractions and a full scale and polish at Beverly Hills Animal Hospital It was a big job, but Chuckles has recovered beautifully and is ready for his new home now.
Chuckles foster carer and her family have fallen completely in love with him and speak so warmly of his gentle nature. He is not bothered by little people, noise, other dogs or cats, and he adores cuddles. He is still very happy to walk a couple of kilometers without any trouble and enjoys being part of whatever is happening around him
